Google has always warned against trying to unfairly influence ranking by buying links, but instead urges you to focus on good quality content and engagement across a spread of online platforms.

Of course what Google says and what Google does are two different matters. Good news to hear that Google have taken down a large group of websites trying to unfairly influence ranking over the weekend. Boo hoo from a lot of the business owners who tried to cheat their competitors by buying links, and now find themselves delisted from Google results, their online businesses effectively over.

If only Google would employ more people and get serious about businesses trying to unfairly buy their way up the listings, then we could all just focus on doing positive things.

Practice SEO Karma. Do good things online and good things will happen, do bad things and you might well lose your business.
